Join us for Introduction to Storytelling! This workshop with Gary Green will take place over 4 evenings.

The dates are: Oct 20, 27 & Nov 3, and 10 from 630pm to 830pm. Workshop will take place at St. Mary’s Anglican Church located at 80 Craigmiller Ave.

A hands-on introduction to the art of storytelling including tall tales, ghost stories, true stories and folktales. Through a series of exercises, participants will learn the basics of how to select, learn and perform stories. Among the topics explored will be story types, voice, gesture, audience interaction and story adaptation.

Storyteller and author Gary Green has performed provincially, nationally and internationally at a variety of events ranging from youth camps to major festivals. Gary has performed on network television, on radio, and in international award winning audio productions. He has been a consultant for the use of site-specific storytelling in the interpretation of historic sites. A keen student of folklore, he especially enjoys stories about local ghosts, fairies, witches, and mysterious creatures. For almost 20 years, Gary has conducted in-person and online storytelling workshops for a number of provincial organizations and agencies including St. John’s Storytelling. His online workshops have had participants from Canada, the United States, England and Ireland.
