Call for Board Members
We’re growing! St. John’s Storytelling is seeking a treasurer and member at large to help us share our stories.
St. John’s Storytelling is expanding! We program group and solo performances, workshop series, professional development, school visits, and community partnerships year round. Our goal is to celebrate storytelling traditions from many cultures, to support new and experimental approaches, and to foreground the role of stories in shaping social change. Plus, our board members get to be part of an incredible community of performers, writers, musicians, activists, and innovators from a wide variety of fields.
About SJS:
St. John’s Storytelling is a not-for-profit organization that has been active in the Storytelling community of Newfoundland and Labrador since 2004. We host and organize an annual Storytelling festival bringing storytellers from across the Province, Canada and internationally to the stage in St. John’s. Our festival and year-round programming includes story walks, group and solo shows, open mics, workshops and working groups, and events for families and young tellers.
The mandate of St. John’s Storytelling is to promote the art and tradition of storytelling in Newfoundland and Labrador and throughout Canada; to foster creative expression of this art; and to promote cooperation among organizations related to the art and tradition of storytelling in Newfoundland and Labrador.
We are seeking to honor the unique storytelling traditions from this place and cultures around the world. As we aim to preserve tradition, we also support experimental approaches and new developments in the medium. Storytelling is an art of unmediated connection, making it uniquely suited to activism and a great vehicle for social change. Our goals are big. Help us champion them.
