St. John’s Storytelling WWI Project is now available through MUNFLA’s Archive.

This collection is a project of St. John’s Storytelling Inc., developed in partnership with Memorial University of Newfoundland, Rogers Communications, and the Royal Canadian Legion. The project was made possible through the support of the Newfoundland and Labrador Year of the Arts, through ArtsNL, and The Perlin Family Trust.

The project was coordinated by Susan Oke, with the podcast Our Unsung Heroes: World War I Stories from Newfoundland and Labrador created by Rebecca Nolan and hosted by Lisa Gushue. Story collectors included Jan and David Buley, Karen Carroll, Randy Crane, Dennis Flynn, Gary Green, Jordan Harnum, Bob Hemeon, Tonya Kearley-Russell, Oral Mews, Dave Paddon, Alex Saunders, and Jeanene Walsh. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to bringing this project to life.

We hope that researchers, educators, and members of the public will explore these materials and enjoy engaging with the stories they preserve. By making this collection accessible, we aim to honour the individuals and communities represented, and to ensure that their voices and experiences continue to be shared and remembered.
